- Life crises and losses
- Changing life roles, such as parenthood or retirement
- Different views on future, economy or expectations

IBCT - Intergrative behavioral therapy for couples
I work with Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT), which is an evidence-based treatment that combines acceptance and change. The method is adapted to each couple’s unique situation, regardless of cohabitation or sexual orientation.
The method focuses on:
- Understanding patterns in interaction
- Developing empathy for each other’s perspectives
- Increase the ability to reach each other emotionally
- Finding new solutions to old problems
IBCT is a flexible method that is not limited to couples, but is also relevant in work groups and friendships where misunderstandings and conflicts occur.
How couple therapy works
First call
Planning of calls
The course of therapy
During therapy, we work on paying attention to patterns of interaction, for example, if one often avoids conflict while the other presses on. Through reflection, couple therapy exercises and understanding of underlying problems, you can break the pattern.
Between calls, homework is often given to deepen the work between calls. These can include exercises in active listening, acknowledging each other or dealing with conflict in new ways.
Please note: If you are unable to attend, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the appointment to avoid being charged.

What is the difference between a psychologist and a couples therapist?
A licensed psychologist has a five-year university education and works according to the guidelines of the National Board of Health and Welfare. However, the term couple therapist is not a protected title, which means that people with different backgrounds can call themselves that.
You will be supported by a licensed psychologist with special expertise in couples therapy.
